about

Laurie Downey is a visual artist and graphic designer.

Laurie lives and works in southwestern Maine.

For many years, her studio work was based on the dense woods surrounding her house and studio; she made drawings and created large digital images based on abstracted natural patterns. She is currently working on a series of assemblages called Relics.

Laurie has also been a teaching artist; for over 25 years she created murals with students in Maine public schools through the Local Stories Project.
